MONTEBELLO, CA (January 24, 2023) – One person was seriously injured in a car accident on West Whittier Boulevard in Montebello early Sunday morning on January 21.
 
According to the Montebello Police Department, an unknown vehicle had slammed into a pole at 1617 West Whittier Boulevard around 3:15 a.m.
 
After the crash, the vehicle’s engine started to catch fire.
 
One person was temporarily trapped inside the vehicle but managed to climb out, according to fire department officials.
 
Responding paramedics took the patient to a hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries.
 
Meanwhile, police detained one person at the scene.
