One Person Dead in Union City Multi-Car Crash on 880 Freeway

 
UNION CITY, CA (November 29, 2021) — One person died in a multi-car accident on the 880 Freeway near Whipple Road on Sunday.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal multi-vehicle crash happened around 2:53 a.m. For unknown reasons, a driver’s car broke down in the far-left lane. Upon responding to reports of the disabled vehicle, officers arrived at the reported location and found at least four cars involved in a crash.
 
Not long after, CHP officers contacted the coroner to the scene and issued a SigAlert for all southbound lanes.
 
At this time, the cause of the crash and the victim’s name have not been released. However, we will update this report once we receive additional information.
