Deadly Wrong-Way Accident on Highway 85 in San Jose Involves 3 Vehicles
SAN JOSE, CA (March 21, 2021) – At least one person was killed Sunday morning after a wrong-way accident on Highway 85 in San Jose.
The accident happened just after 8:00 a.m., March 21, near the De Anza Boulevard off-ramp. According to the California Highway Patrol, at least three vehicles including a taxi van and a Tesla were involved. One of them was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of the highway prior to the collision.
Video from the scene showed two vehicles heavily damaged with debris spread across the highway.
First responders confirmed at least one fatality as a result of the accident. The identity of the victim was not immediately available.
It is unknown at this time if drugs or alcohol played a role in the accident, which remains under investigation.
