Wrong-Way Driver Dies after Crashing Head-On with Another Car on 41 Freeway in Fresno

FRESNO, CA (July 21, 2021) – One person died in a wrong-way accident on 41 Freeway in Fresno on Tuesday afternoon.

The accident happened around 4:25 p.m. on July 20, near the North Friant Road off-ramp. According to the California Highway Patrol, a Hyundai sedan was traveling south in the northbound lanes of the freeway when it collided head-on with a Range Rover that was exiting the highway at the Friant off-ramp.

The impact of the crash caused severe injuries on the driver of the Hyundai. He died at the scene. Authorities only described him as a man between 30 to 40 years old.

The driver of the Ranger Rover, a 56-year-old man, did not sustain serious injuries.

Both drivers were sole occupants of their vehicles. The crash also caused traffic to back up on the highway during rush hour.

An investigation into this fatal accident is ongoing.
