Fatal Crash at Willoughby and Dogwood Roads Sends Two Cars into Canal

 
IMPERIAL COUNTY, CA (August 4, 2021) – One person died in a two-vehicle accident at Willoughby Road and Dogwood Road Tuesday afternoon.
 
The accident happened just after 3:30 p.m. on August 3, near Calexico and Heber. According to the California Highway Patrol, a maroon Jeep Compass and a white pickup truck collided for unknown reasons. The impact sent both vehicles into a nearby canal.
 
The Jeep carrying three to four people was completely submerged in the water when officers arrived. A female occupant in the vehicle died at the scene.
 
All occupants in the pickup truck were out in the water by 4:12 p.m. It is unknown how many other patients sustained injuries from the accident.
 
At this time, CHP officials are still investigating the exact cause of the crash and factors involved.
