Collision Between Big Rig and SUV on Highway 59 in Merced Ends in Fatality

 
MERCED, CA (May 2, 2022) – At least one person was killed in a two-vehicle accident on Highway 59 in Merced, late Saturday evening.
 
The accident happened around 10:30 p.m. on April 30 at East Mission Avenue. CHP officials said a Chevrolet Tahoe ran a stop sign and was struck by a big rig. The impact caused one of the vehicles to overturn on its side.
 
Deputies arrived and found at least one fatality as a result of the accident. The identity of the victim was not immediately available.
 
At this time, the California Highway Patrol is still investigating the accident.
