Fatal Two-Vehicle Accident on 880 Freeway in Oakland

 
OAKLAND, CA (May 3, 2021) – One person died in a two-vehicle accident on 880 Freeway in Oakland early Saturday morning, May 1.
 
The accident happened around 4:30 a.m. in the southbound lanes of the freeway near the 66th Avenue exit. According to the California Highway Patrol, a black Honda sedan and a maroon van collided for unknown reasons.
 
First responders found a body lying in the roadway and not moving. They attempted life-saving measures, but the patient died at the scene.
 
Authorities did not provide the identity of the victim pending next of kin notification.
 
All lanes of the freeway were closed while the coroner was called and officers investigated the crash.
 
It is unknown if speed, drugs or alcohol played a factor.
