One Killed in Three-Vehicle Accident on Highway 183 at San Jon Road [Salinas, CA]

Three-Vehicle Accident on Highway 183 in Salinas Kills 74-Year-Old Driver and Seriously Injures Another

 
SALINAS, CA (June 6, 2022) – One person died in a three-vehicle accident on Highway 183 in Salinas early Friday morning on June 3.
 
The accident happened around 4:30 a.m. just north of San Jon Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, a 2013 Ford Edge was traveling northbound on the highway when it crossed over the broken yellow line onto the southbound lane. It then crashed into a 2021 Lincoln Continental.
 
The impact caused the Ford to rotate toward the northbound lane, where it also collided with a Farm Labor Bus.
 
As a result, the 74-year-old driver of the Lincoln from Castroville, died at the scene. They were not yet identified.
 
The driver of the Ford, a 47-year-old woman from Holtville, suffered major injuries. Paramedics took her to a local hospital for treatment.
 
Meanwhile, the driver of the Farm Labor Bus, a 64-year-old from Salinas, was unharmed.
 
Drugs and alcohol are not considered factors in this crash, which remains under investigation.
