Three-Vehicle Accident on Carmel Valley Road Kills 1 Driver and Injures Two Others

 
MONTEREY COUNTY, CA (October 11, 2021) – One person died in a three-vehicle accident on Carmel Valley Road Friday afternoon.
 
The accident happened around 12:45 p.m. on October 8. According to the California Highway Patrol, the victim was driving a 1973 Ford F250. At the same time, 29-year-old Catherine Poma of Salinas was driving the Jeep, while 44-year-old Irma Neris Medrano of Salinas was driving a 2021 Toyota Highlander.
 
For unknown reasons, Poma drifted into oncoming traffic and collided into the two other vehicles. It clipped the Ford pickup that went off an embankment.
 
As a result, the driver of the pickup died at the scene. They were not yet identified.
 
Meanwhile, Poma suffered moderate injuries. Medrano had minor injuries.
 
At this time, it unknown if drugs or alcohol was a factor. The California Highway Patrol is still investigating the accident.
