Early Morning Hit-and-Run on Highway 111 in Imperial County Turns Deadly

 
IMPERIAL COUNTY, CA (June 23, 2021) – One person died in a suspected hit-and-run on Highway 111 in Imperial County early Tuesday morning.
 
The fatal incident happened around 1:23 a.m. on June 22, at the intersection with Rutherford Road near Brawley. CHP officials responded to the scene and found one person lying in the right shoulder of the highway with significant injuries from being struck by a vehicle.
 
Paramedics attempted life-saving aid, but the victim died at the scene.
 
Brawley police checked the area but the involved vehicle was not found. They believe the vehicle, possibly a big rig, had major front-end damage.
 
At this time, the victim’s identity was not immediately available. The suspect remains at large.
 
The Imperial County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident.
