Semi Truck Accident on Panama Lane in Buttonwillow Kills 1 Driver

 
BUTTONWILLOW, CA (July 12, 2021) – One person was killed in a semi truck accident on Panama Lane in Buttonwillow Thursday morning, July 8.
 
The accident happened around 5:31 a.m. near Highway 43, just north of 5 Freeway. According to the California Highway Patrol, two semi trucks were heading in opposite direction when they collided for unknown reasons. The impact caused one of the trucks to burst into flames.
 
First responders pronounced one driver dead at the scene. The identity of the victim was not immediately available.
 
Paramedics took the other driver to a hospital with major injuries.
 
Crews shut down Highway 43 between Stockdale Highway and Panama Lane while they cleared the wreckage.
 
The cause of the crash and factors involved remain under investigation.
