Driver Dies after Crashing into Back of Semi Truck on Highway 198 in Hanford

 
HANFORD, CA (May 20, 2023) – One person was killed in a semi truck accident on Highway 198 in Hanford Wednesday evening on May 17.
 
The accident happened around 7:15 p.m. at the intersection with Sixth Avenue. According to the California Highway Patrol, the semi-truck that was traveling northbound on Sixth Avenue approaching the intersection of eastbound Highway 198. It was making a right turn at a slow speed when a black Chrysler approached.
 
Both vehicles were occupying the same lane when the Chrysler hit the rear of the semi.
 
As a result of the crash, the driver of the Chrysler suffered life-threatening injuries and died at the scene.
 
The driver of the semi was not injured.
 
It is unknown if speed, drugs or alcohol was a factor. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
