Driver Dies after Colliding with Semi Truck on East Mount Whitney Avenue in Fresno County

FRESNO COUNTY, CA (October 15, 2021) – At least one person died in a semi truck accident on East Mount Whitney Avenue in Fresno County Thursday afternoon.
 
The accident happened around 3:34 p.m. on October 14, at the intersection with Cedar Street. According to the California Highway Patrol, the semi truck was crossing Mount Whitney when a white Mercedes slammed into the trailer.
 
The car went under the truck and continued off the road. The driver was thrown from the car and died at the scene.
 
The victim was the sole occupant of the car. He was not yet identified.
 
Meanwhile, the driver of the semi truck did not sustain any injuries. He remained on scene and cooperated with authorities.
 
Speed is suspected to be a factor in the crash, but an investigation is underway.
