2 Big Rigs Collide on 5 Freeway in Coalinga Killing at Least One

 
COALINGA, CA (July 14, 2022) – At least one person was killed in a semi truck accident on 5 Freeway in Coalinga on Monday.
 
The accident happened around 6:21 a.m. on July 11. According to the California Highway Patrol, a flatbed truck and a box truck collided for unknown reasons. The impact caused one of the big rigs to overturn.
 
When officers arrived, they confirmed at least one fatality as a result of the accident. They withheld the victim’s identity pending notification of next of kin.
 
Crews blocked all freeway lanes near the crash site while they cleared the wreckage.
 
The exact cause of the crash remains under investigation.
