Pedestrian Dies after Struck by Cargo Truck on Western Avenue in Gardena

 
GARDENA, CA (November 22, 2021) – One person died in a pedestrian accident on Western Avenue in Gardena, late Thursday afternoon.
 
Around 5:38 p.m. on November 18, the Gardena Police Department received a call of a traffic accident in the 17100 block of Western Avenue. Officers responded and learned that the pedestrian was standing in the center median. A cargo truck traveling north on Western Avenue preparing to make a left-hand turn into a business then struck the pedestrian.
 
As a result, the pedestrian suffered severe injuries. Paramedics rushed him to a hospital, where he later died.
 
The coroner’s office will release the victim’s identity once family members are properly notified.
