Pedestrian Pushing Shopping Cart Dies after Struck by Car on Indian Street in MoVal

 
MORENO VALLEY, CA (July 14, 2022) – One person died in a pedestrian accident on Indian Street in Moreno Valley on Tuesday evening, July 12.
 
The fatal accident happened around 8:50 p.m. just north of Hemlock Avenue. According to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, the pedestrian was pushing his shopping cart in the northbound traffic lane on Indian when a 2005 Toyota Scion XB approached him from behind, traveling at an unknown speed.
 
The Toyota then struck the victim in the roadway.
 
Firefighter paramedics immediately responded and pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene.
 
The driver remained on scene and cooperated with authorities. They were not injured.
 
It is still unknown if alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash. Further investigation is underway.
