Early Morning Pedestrian Accident on Highway 99 in Turlock Ends in Fatality

TURLOCK, CA (August 3, 2021) – One person was killed in a pedestrian accident on Highway 99 in Turlock early Tuesday morning.

The accident happened just before 3:00 a.m. on August 3, along the southbound lanes of the highway near the West Main Street exit. According to the California Highway Patrol, the pedestrian was walking in the area when a vehicle struck them.

An off-duty officer located the pedestrian and pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

The CHP found a vehicle with its hazard lights on stopped a short distance from the crash site, but they did not indicate if it was the one involved. It is also unknown if the driver who struck the victim stayed after the accident.

At this time, an investigation into the fatality is underway.
