Fatal Pedestrian Crash on Highway 32 in Chico

 
CHICO, CA (February 28, 2023) – One person was killed in a pedestrian accident on Highway 32 in Chico Friday night on February 24.
 
The fatal accident happened around 6:15 p.m. at the intersection with East Eighth Street. According to the Chico Police Department, the victim was walking near the intersection when a car struck them.
 
As a result, they suffered major injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. They were not yet identified.
 
The intersection was closed on Friday to westbound Highway 32 traffic at Forest Avenue due to the crash. It was reopened at around 8:48 p.m. the same day.
 
Police do not believe alcohol or drugs played a factor in the crash. They asked anyone with any information to contact the Chico Police Department Traffic Unit at 530-895-4911.
