Pedestrian Dies after Struck by Vehicle on Highway 183 in Salinas

 
SALINAS, CA (August 24, 2021) – One person was killed in a pedestrian accident on Highway 183 in Salinas Friday evening.
 
The accident happened around 9:51 p.m. on August 20, at the intersection with Cooper Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, the pedestrian was walking in the area when a vehicle struck them.
 
First responders found the victim lying in the roadway with significant injuries. They performed life-saving aid, but the pedestrian died at the scene.
 
At this time, the identity of the victim was not immediately available. It is also unknown if the involved driver remained on scene after the crash.
 
An investigation into this fatal accident is ongoing.
