Pedestrian Pushing Shopping Cart Fatally Struck by Vehicle on Highway 101 in Willits

 
WILLITS, CA (January 11, 2022) – One person was killed in a pedestrian accident on Highway 101 south of Willits on Monday night.
 
The accident happened around 6:40 p.m. on January 10 near the Ridgewood Summit. According to the California Highway Patrol, the pedestrian pushing a shopping cart in the area was hit by a vehicle in unclear circumstances.
 
When officers arrived, they found the pedestrian lying in the roadway with significant injuries. Paramedics performed life-saving aid, but the pedestrian died at the scene.
 
The involved driver remained on scene and cooperated with authorities.
 
At this time, the identity of the victim was withheld pending family notification.
 
The California Highway Patrol are still investigating the fatality and trying to determine whether drugs or alcohol was a factor.
