Pedestrian Dies after Struck by Vehicle on Alessandro Drive in Palm Desert

 
PALM DESERT, CA (May 8, 2023) – One person was killed in a pedestrian accident at Alessandro Drive and Portola Avenue in Palm Desert late Thursday afternoon.
 
The fatal accident happened around 5:45 p.m. on May 4. According to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, the pedestrian was walking at the intersection when a vehicle struck them.
 
Arriving deputies found the pedestrian lying in the roadway with major injuries. The unidentified victim was rushed to a local hospital, where they later died.
 
The driver of the vehicle remained on scene and cooperated with deputies.
 
It is unknown if drugs or alcohol played a factor in the accident. Further investigation is underway.
