Pedestrian Dies after Struck by Big Rig on 5 Freeway in Lincoln Heights

 
LINCOLN HEIGHTS, CA (November 5, 2021) – One person was killed in a pedestrian accident on 5 Freeway in Lincoln Heights early Thursday morning.
 
The accident happened around 2:23 a.m. on November 4 on the northbound 5 Freeway just south of North Broadway. CHP officials said a tractor trailer struck the pedestrian who was walking on the freeway.
 
Sadly, the unidentified pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. The Los Angeles County Sheriff Coroner will release the victim’s identity once family members are properly notified.
 
It is unknown at this time why the pedestrian was on the freeway.
 
Crews closed all northbound lanes of 5 Freeway for several hours after the crash. An investigation is underway.
