Fatal Pedestrian Accident on 5 Freeway in National City

 
NATIONAL CITY, CA (October 30, 2021) – One person was killed in a pedestrian accident on 5 Freeway in National City Friday evening.
 
The accident happened around 8:45 p.m. on October 29, at Civic Center South. According to California Highway Patrol, the pedestrian was standing in the fast lane of the freeway when they were struck by at least one vehicle.
 
When officers arrived, they did not locate any vehicle. The victim suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.
 
Two lanes of traffic were closed to travelers while crews were on the scene of the crash.
 
The identity of the victim was not immediately available. This fatality is still under investigation.
