Pedestrian Dies after Struck by Semitrailer on 215 Freeway in San Bernardino

 
SAN BERNARDINO, CA (January 13, 2022) – One person was killed in a pedestrian accident on 215 Freeway in San Bernardino, early Wednesday morning.
 
The fatal accident happened just after 4:00 a.m. on January 12 near 5th Street. According to the CHP, the pedestrian crossed onto the freeway when a blue and white semi with a trailer attached struck them.
 
When officers arrived, they found the pedestrian suffering from severe injuries. Despite life-saving aid, the victim died at the scene.
 
Crews shut down all northbound lanes of the freeway while they cleared the wreckage. All traffic was diverted off at 5th Street for several hours.
 
At this time, the identity of the victim was not immediately available.
 
The California Highway Patrol is still investigating the cause of the accident.
