Pedestrian Dies after Hit by Car on 101 Freeway in Downtown LA

 
DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES, CA (July 4, 2022) – One person died in a pedestrian accident on 101 Freeway in downtown Los Angeles early Sunday morning on July 3.
 
The fatal accident happened around 3:30 a.m. just north of Alameda Street. CHP officials said the pedestrian was walking in the southbound lanes of the freeway when a car struck them.
 
The impact caused the pedestrian fatal injuries and they died at the scene. They were not yet identified.
 
It is unclear if the involved driver stayed after the crash.
 
Crews issued a Sigalert at 3:46 a.m. shutting down all southbound lanes of the freeway from north of Alameda Street. The alert was canceled at 8:13 a.m.
 
The California Highway Patrol is still investigating the accident.
