Early Morning Multi-Vehicle Accident on 80 Freeway in Dixon Turns Deadly

 
DIXON, CA (June 21, 2021) – At least one person was killed in a multi-vehicle accident on 80 Freeway in Dixon early Sunday morning.
 
The accident happened around 12:39 a.m. on June 20, in the westbound lanes of the freeway at Dixon Avenue off-ramp. According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash involved a total of seven vehicles.
 
Preliminary reports indicate a black sedan was traveling at approximately 100 mph prior to the crash. The reports also indicate a big rig was involved.
 
Responding officers confirmed at least one fatality as a result of the accident. The identity of the victim will be released once next of kin is properly notified.
 
Authorities shut down the westbound 80 Freeway near the crash site and issued a regional traffic alert. Westbound traffic was diverted to Dixon Avenue-West A Street.
 
The circumstances of the crash remain under investigation.
