Multi-Vehicle Accident on 5 Freeway in East LA Kills 1 and Injures Another

 
EAST LOS ANGELES, CA (March 28, 2021) – One person was killed Sunday morning in a multi-vehicle accident on the Santa Ana (5) Freeway in East Los Angeles.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened around 5:25 a.m., March 28, on the northbound freeway at the transition road to the northbound Long Beach (710) Freeway.
 
CHP officials said a sedan struck the center divider for unknown reasons. The impact of the initial crash involved at least four other vehicles.
 
First responders pronounced one patient dead at the scene. Paramedics rushed at least one person to an area hospital with unspecified injuries.
 
The name, age and gender of the deceased were not immediately available.
 
The CHP is still investigating the accident to determine the exact cause and factors involved.
