Police Arrest Kevin Atteberry for DUI after Fatal Crash on Sunrise Way at East Palm Canyon Drive

 
PALM SPRINGS, CA (August 1, 2022) – One person died and police arrested Kevin Atteberry after a DUI crash in Palm Springs on Saturday evening, July 30.
 
The crash happened around 9:07 p.m. on Sunrise Way at East Palm Canyon Drive. According to the Palm Springs Police Department, the 57-year-old suspect from Los Angeles was driving a vehicle south on Sunrise when he rear-ended another vehicle stopped at the intersection.
 
The driver of the second vehicle died at the scene. A passenger in that vehicle was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.
 
Atteberry also suffered serious injuries and was hospitalized.
 
The impact of the initial crash caused a chain-reaction with two other vehicles stopped in the intersection. No other injuries were reported.
 
Prior to this fatal crash, Atteberry was suspected of causing a hit-and-run crash in the intersection of Ramon Road and Sunrise Way.
 
Authorities said once released from the hospital, Atteberry will be arrested and booked on suspicion of murder due to his previous DUI conviction.
