Head-On Accident on North Chateau Fresno Avenue Kills 1 Driver and Leaves Another in Critical Condition

 
FRESNO, CA (December 21, 2021) – One person was killed in a head-on accident at North Chateau Fresno Avenue and West Shields Avenue late Saturday afternoon.
 
The accident happened around 5:40 p.m. on December 18, just west of Highway 99. According to the California Highway Patrol, a yellow van was traveling westbound on West Shields Avenue and a red pickup truck was heading eastbound. For unknown reasons, the vehicles collided head-on.
 
As a result, the 23-year-old male driver of the pickup truck suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. His truck was badly smashed from the crash.
 
Paramedics took the driver of the van to Community Regional Medical Center in critical condition.
 
Both drivers were sole occupants of their vehicles.
 
The California Highway Patrol is still investigating the accident and are looking into whether alcohol played a role.
