Two-Car Accident on Garces Highway in Delano Leaves 1 Dead

 
DELANO, CA (August 8, 2022) – One person was killed in a car accident on Garces Highway in Delano early Saturday, August 6.
 
The fatal accident happened around 2:00 a.m. at the intersection with Melcher Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, a Dodge Challenger collided with another car, possibly a white Maxima, for unknown reasons. The impact caused the Dodge to catch fire.
 
When officers arrived, they found one person with fatal injuries and pronounced them dead at the scene. They withheld the victim’s identity pending notification of next of kin.
 
It is unclear if there are other injuries sustained in the crash.
 
The circumstances of the crash remain under investigation.
