Traffic Accident Involving Two Big Rigs on 60 Freeway in Ontario Ends in Fatality

 
ONTARIO, CA (September 23, 2021) – One person was killed in a big rig accident on 60 Freeway in Ontario early Thursday morning.
 
The accident happened around 12:30 a.m. on September 23, near Grove Avenue. According to the California Highway Patrol, a semi truck slammed into the back of another big rig on the eastbound freeway.
 
Paramedics immediately responded and pronounced one person dead at the scene.
 
The crash forced the closure of all eastbound lanes of the freeway. Several lanes were later reopened, but traffic was backed up for miles as the morning commute got underway hours later. Officers urged motorists to use Philadelphia Street as an alternative route.
 
The identity of the deceased victim was withheld pending next of kin notification.
 
The CHP is still investigating the accident.
