Fatal Bicycle Accident on Highway 163 near Balboa Park

 
SAN DIEGO, CA (April 25, 2021) – One person was killed in a bicycle accident on Highway 163 near Balboa Park Wednesday evening, April 21.
 
The accident happened around 9:05 p.m. near Park Avenue just north of 5 Freeway. According to the California Highway Patrol, the bicyclist was struck by a vehicle in the southbound lanes of Highway 163.
 
First responders provided life-saving measures on the bicyclist, but the victim died at the scene.
 
The name, age and gender of the victim were not immediately available.
 
CHP officials are still investigating the accident to determine the factors involved and liability.
