Scooter Rider Sustains Injuries after Hit by Vehicle on Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu

 
MALIBU, CA (July 26, 2022) – One person was injured in a scooter accident on Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu on Saturday afternoon, July 23.
 
The accident happened around 1:52 p.m. at Heathercliff Road. Deputies said the victim was riding the scooter when a parked vehicle pulled out in front of him.
 
As a result of the crash, the adult scooter rider suffered bumps and scrapes. Paramedics transported him to a hospital for proper treatment.
 
The involved vehicle driver remained on scene and cooperated with authorities.
 
Crews closed the first eastbound lane of PCH at Heathercliff Road for about 20 minutes while they cleared the wreckage.
 
It is unknown at this time if drugs or alcohol was a factor.
 
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Malibu-Lost Hills station is investigating the accident.
 
When riding a scooter, always wear a helmet. Avoid riding scooters on rough terrain or uneven surfaces. Also, avoid riding at night or when it is harder for motorists to see you. Lastly, Do not drive at excessive speeds, and do not dart between lanes in traffic.
