Police Chase on Pacific Coast Highway in El Segundo Involves Stolen Vehicle

 
EL SEGUNDO, CA (April 11, 2021) – One person sustained injuries after a police chase on Pacific Coast Highway at Grand Avenue Thursday morning, April 8.
 
The chase began about 9:00 a.m. when Los Angeles School Police officers saw a utility truck crashed into several parked cars on Figueroa Street and 168th Street. The truck was stolen near Gardena Elementary School.
 
Officers tried to stop the driver, but he failed to yield. That was when the pursuit started.
 
The chase lasted about 20 minutes when the driver crashed at Pacific Coast Highway and Grand Avenue in El Segundo. Aerial video showed the truck crashed into trees near a restaurant in the area and the vehicle was heavily damaged.
 
Responding paramedics treated one injured person at the scene.
 
Subsequently, police arrested the male suspect on suspicion of stealing the truck, evading and reckless driving. Officials also said that impairment may have been a factor.
 
An investigation into this crash is ongoing.
