Driver Sustains Injury after Colliding with Patrol Vehicle on Hammond Way in Bakersfield

 
BAKERSFIELD, CA (June 3, 2023) – One person was hospitalized in a two-vehicle accident on Hammond Way in Bakersfield Thursday afternoon on June 1.
 
The accident happened around 1:52 p.m. near Panama Lane. According to the Bakersfield Police Department, a BPD cruiser was traveling eastbound on Panama when a red passenger vehicle made a southbound turn onto Hammond directly in front of the patrol vehicle. The two vehicles then collided.
 
As a result, the driver of the passenger vehicle sustained minor injuries and was taken to a hospital.
 
The officer on the patrol vehicle complained of pain.
 
Police said alcohol, drugs and speed are not factors in the crash, which remains under investigation.
