One Dies in Rollover Accident on Highway 17 near Mount Hermon Road [Scotts Valley, CA]

Vehicle Overturned in Fatal Accident on Highway 17 in Scotts Valley

 
SCOTTS VALLEY, CA (June 7, 2021) – Police confirmed that one person died in a rollover accident on Highway 17 on June 4.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened near Mount Hermon Road.
 
Based on a report, the victim was driving his Toyota Tacoma along the northbound lane of the highway at the time of the crash. Due to unknown reasons, he decided to overtake a slower-moving Toyota Camry. Subsequently, the Tacoma struck the rear of the Camry. Then, it overturned in the lanes while the Camry then lost control and began to spin out.
 
Consequently, the rollover ejected the driver from the Tacoma. As a result, the victim died at the scene. Officials only identified the deceased as a 28-year-old from Santa Cruz. Crews sent the driver of the Camry, a 22-year-old from Oakland, to Santa Clara Valley Medical Center for minor injuries.
 
At this point, this rollover accident on Highway 17 is still under investigation. In addition, no other details are available.
