Fatal Pedestrian Accident Occurs on 5 Freeway in Chula Vista

 
CHULA VISTA, CA (May 18, 2021) – Police confirmed that one person died in a pedestrian accident on northbound 5 Freeway on May 14.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened near E Street just south of Highway 54 around 2:55 AM.
 
Based on a report, the victim was walking in traffic lanes at the time of the crash. Due to unknown reasons, an unidentified vehicle struck the man.
 
As a result, emergency crews pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene. Officials only identified him as a 48-year-old Fountain Valley man.
 
The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with investigating officers. In the end, they did not believe intoxication was a suspected factor. At this point, this pedestrian accident on 5 Freeway is still under investigation.
