Multiple Vehicles Involved in Fatal Crash on 5 Freeway in Red Bluff

 
RED BLUFF, CA (December 22, 2021) – Police confirmed that one person died in a multi-vehicle crash on 5 Freeway on December 17.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident took place just south of the Wilcox Road exit around 5:00 PM.
 
Based on an initial report, a black Jeep was traveling northbound on the freeway at the time of the crash. Due to unknown reasons, it hit a white sedan, setting off a chain reaction where the sedan hit a truck. Then, the truck struck a Toyota SUV.
 
As a result, a woman died in the incident. Officers did not yet identify the victim or the vehicle in which she was in.
 
Also, the crash closed the northbound lanes of the freeway, causing a major traffic backup as crews worked to clear the wreckage.
 
At this point, the CHP is investigating what caused the deadly multi-car crash.
