Driver Killed, Three Hospitalized after Wrong-Way Crash on Highway 101 near Montague Expressway

 
SANTA CLARA, CA (June 7, 2021) — One person died following a wrong-way crash on Highway 101 in Santa Clara on Sunday, June 6.
 
The accident occurred at 4:30 a.m. on Highway 101 near Montague Expressway.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, a Toyota Corolla headed north in southbound lanes crashed head-on with a Toyota Camry. Then another car, a Nissan Sentra, struck the Camry.
 
The driver of the Corolla, the car that traveled the wrong way, died in the incident. The identity of the driver was not immediately available.
 
Three people in the other vehicles suffered injuries, CHP stated.
 
Authorities shut down three lanes of Highway 101. However, they reopened all the closed lanes at about 8:20 a.m.
 
Officials continue to investigate the incident.
