Rider Killed, Two Injured in Motorcycle Crash on Taft Highway near Heather Meadows Drive

 
BAKERSFIELD, CA (June 8, 2022) — One person sustained fatal injuries in a motorcycle crash on Taft Highway on Monday, June 6.
 
According to Bakersfield Police Department, at around 9:20 p.m. officers rushed to the 1100 block of Taft Highway after a report of a vehicle and a motorcycle crash. Upon arrival, they discovered a man with critical injuries.
 
Medics transported him to a nearby hospital where he died.
 
A police investigation revealed that the man rode a motorcycle eastbound on Taft Highway. At the same time, a Honda moving in the same direction did an illegal U-turn from the right edge of the road directly in front of the motorcyclist. The move caused the accident.
 
There were two people in the Honda. Both sustained minor injuries in the crash and received treatment at the hospital.
 
The identity of the motorcyclist is not yet available pending family notification of loved ones.
