One Dies in Head-On Crash on Highway 101

 
PIETA, CA (June 15, 2021)— One person died in a head-on accident on Highway 101 near Frog Woman Rock.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the head-on crash happened around 7:30 a.m. Under unclear circumstances, a big rig and a motorhome collided just south of Hopland, leaving at least one person deceased.
 
Shortly after, crews responded to the scene to find debris blocking the southbound lane and a line of cars drawing traffic on the highway.
 
An environmental health team responded shortly thereafter due to the big rig that had veered down an embankment near the Russian River.
 
At this time, police have no clue as to what caused the accident. However, if witnesses would like to help the CHP with this crash, please contact the department.
