Officer P. Vue, Benjamin Caldeira, Daniel Drummon Hurt in Palermo Car Crash

PALERMO, CA (June 10, 2021) — CHP Officer P. Vue and two others sustained injuries in a two-car accident on Palermo Road at Lone Tree Road Sunday night.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened just before 10:00 p.m. For DUI reasons, Officer Vue tried to stop a driver. However, while trying to get the driver to pull over, a 2008 silver Kia Rio heading southbound on Lone Tree Road collided with Vue’s patrol car at the intersection.

Due to the impact, the patrol vehicle overturned multiple times and rolled down an embankment. Meanwhile, the Kia spun around and came to a stop on the north shoulder of Palermo Road.

Shortly after, Cal Fire-Butte County and Palermo Station arrived to assist Vue and the Kia occupants — 22-year-old Daniel Drummon of Palermo and 21-year-old Benjamin Caldeira of Rough and Ready.

At this point, officers have ruled out alcohol as a possible source of the accident. However, the crash remains under investigation.
