Officer Kenney Merenda Crashes Motorcycle Into Bystanders, Injuring 10 on Palm Canyon Drive near Amado Road
PALM SPRINGS, CA (December 13, 2024) — Officer Kenney Merenda crashed his motorcycle into a crowd on Palm Canyon Drive in Downtown Palm Springs.
According to reports, the crash happened during the Palm Springs Festival of Lights Parade around 6:00 p.m. Saturday. A video showed a traffic officer — Kenney Merenda — losing control of his motorcycle and crashing into a crowd of spectators.
Roughly 10 people were injured, including Merenda. Fortunately, their injuries were not life-threatening. Among those injured were a child and two seniors. The child suffered minor to moderate injuries and appeared to be doing okay.
Although the authorities paused the parade, the festival resumed shortly after the injured received medical attention.
The details of this crash remain unclear. However, the California Highway Patrol is investigating this accident further.
