Officer Hurt and Driver Arrested after Police Chase Accident on Wible Road and White Lane

 
BAKERSFIELD, CA (January 4, 2022) — A police officer was hurt in a police pursuit crash on Wible Road on Thursday, December 30.
 
According to Bakersfield police Sgt. Robert Pair, officers attempted to pull over a driver in a reported stolen vehicle. They spotted it near Sherwood Avenue and Benton Street just after 3:00 p.m.
 
The driver in the vehicle didn’t stop and led police on a chase through south Bakersfield.
 
Police said that at one point, the driver stopped and officers approached the car. However, the suspect backed into the police vehicle, missing the officers.
 
The driver then drove to Wible Road and White Lane where he crashed into another driver. Pair said the suspect went out of the vehicle. Then an officer hit the suspect with a patrol car which caused minor injuries to the suspect.
 
One officer had minor injuries during the incident. The driver involved in the crash on White Lane and Wible Road was not hurt.
 
Police took the suspect driver into custody.
