Off-Duty Officer Lanell Whitfield Dies in Motorcycle Crash on Martin Luther King Jr Boulevard near Beechwood Avenue

 
LYNWOOD, CA (June 6, 2022) — Off-duty officer Lanell Whitfield died in a motorcycle accident on Martin Luther King Jr Boulevard near Beechwood Avenue on Saturday afternoon.
 
According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau, the fatal motorcycle crash happened around 3:32 p.m.
 
Under unclear circumstances, Whitfield crashed his motorcycle while off duty and suffered fatal injuries.
 
According to witnesses, they saw his motorcycle on fire and Whitfield lying next to it.
 
At this time, authorities have not confirmed the leading cause of the crash or if another car had been involved. However, an ongoing investigation should determine what had happened.
