Norma Garcia Killed in Head-On Accident on Highway 108 [Oakdale, CA]

Woman Dies after Colliding Head-On with Box Truck on Highway 108 near Lancaster Road

 
OAKDALE, CA (May 4, 2021) – Authorities identified the woman who died in a head-on crash on Highway 108 in Oakdale Friday morning, May 1.
 
She was identified as 27-year-old Norma Garcia of Turlock.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 6:00 p.m. just east of Lancaster Road. Garcia was driving a 2006 Volkswagen sedan westbound when she approached a bend in the road. For unknown reasons, she allowed her car to drift into the eastbound lane directly into the path of an eastbound box truck.
 
The vehicles collided head-on and came to rest within the eastbound traffic lane, according to the CHP.
 
As a result, Garcia suffered severe injuries and died at the scene. She had been wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
 
The driver of the box truck, 56-year-old Eusebio Ponce of Santa Clara, was not injured.
 
It is unknown if speed, drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash. An investigation is ongoing.
