Nickayla Abarca Killed in Head-On Accident on National Trails Highway [Oro Grande, CA]

Head-On Crash in Oro Grande Kills Nickayla Abara and Sends Two Others to Hospital

 
ORO GRANDE, CA (February 14, 2022) – Nickayla Justine Abarca died in a head-on accident on National Trails Highway in Oro Grande late Friday afternoon.
 
The accident happened around 5:40 p.m. on February 11 about half a mile south of Markham Road. CHP officials said a Ford escape carrying three people was traveling southbound when it crossed over the double-yellow line. It then collided head-on with a northbound Ford F-150 pick-up truck.
 
As a result, Abarca who was the right-front passenger in the Escape, died at the scene. She was a 17-year-old Hesperia resident.
 
San Bernardino County Fire crews requested an air ambulance to transport two people to a hospital with unspecified injuries.
 
At this time, the cause of the crash and factors involved remain under investigation.
