Nicholas Kusmich Killed in Motorcycle Crash on Anaheim Street near Hayes Avenue

 
LONG BEACH, CA (August 9, 2024)Nicholas Kusmich died in a motorcycle accident on Anaheim Street near Hayes Avenue.
 
The Long Beach Police Department responded to the accident around 4:46 p.m. Wednesday. Authorities learned that 50-year-old Kusmich struck the passenger side of a 2020 Kenworth tractor-trailer hauling a shipping container. Its driver was turning northbound onto Hayes Avenue from eastbound Anaheim Street when the collision occurred.
 
Minutes after the accident, paramedics arrived but Kusmich, of Long Beach, passed away from severe injuries.
 
The driver of the Kenworth stayed and cooperated with police investigators.
 
At this time, authorities have ruled out speeding and DUI as possible factors; however, they are looking into distracted driving as a possible reason for the crash.
