Nancy Palacios Killed in Wasco Wrong-Way Crash on Palm Avenue
WASCO, CA (December 20, 2021) — A woman died in a wrong-way accident on Palm Avenue near Taussig Avenue on Tuesday, December 14.
Kern County Sheriff’s officials identified the fatal victim as 26-year-old Wasco resident Nancy Palacios.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 5:50 a.m. on Palm Avenue south of Taussig Avenue approaching a pickup truck traveling southbound.
For unknown reasons, Palacios veered onto the right shoulder then over corrected to the left. Her Honda Accord rotated into the southbound lane directly in front of the pickup truck.
The driver of the pickup truck was unable to stop in time and crashed into Palacios.
Palacios died at the scene. Her loved ones started a GoFundMe for her funeral services.
At the time of the crash, CHP said the roadway was wet with heavy rain in the area. Alcohol and drugs are not suspected to be factors.
Police are investigating the accident. However, anyone with information should contact the CHP.
