Motorcyclist Dead, SUV Driver Injured in Road Accident on John Street near Highway 101

 
SALINAS, CA (July 9, 2021) — A motorcyclist sustained fatal injuries in a two-vehicle crash on John Street in Salinas on Wednesday, July 7.
 
According to the Salinas Police Department, at around 2:18 a.m., a 28-year-old motorcyclist drove eastbound on John Street Overpass. Then, for an undetermined reason, he crossed over the double yellow line and crashed with the SUV.
 
The rider died on the scene. His identity and city of residence were not yet released pending notification of loved ones.
 
The SUV driver had minor injuries. Paramedics rushed the driver to the hospital for treatment.
 
There are no reports of whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the incident.
 
Officials closed John Street in the area in both directions for around six hours after the crash.
